Yes that's right peeps!  The Fate of Larik City: The Rise of Denrok is available online through Barnes and Nobel and Amazon.  Order your copy today.  Been a long hard road, but I think my writing career is starting to take off.

So, you think you can write?

I just finished writing 50K words in November, but am still at a stubling block with my characters because, first of all, THEY ARE UNPREDICTABLE!!!  With that said, by unpredictable, I mean, I never know where they will lead me.  Yes, I am the author first and formost, but they are my  creations who seem at times to bring a voice of their own.  And what keeps happening to my lead character?  Is he dead or is he evil?

You do realize though, that evil spelled backwards is live right?  These characters are alive and are making choices of their own.  I feel like I am just along for the ride.  That's the joy of writing a novel.  I am on the second novel now, The Price of Victory, and yet, my characters are choosing, once again it seems, different paths.  It seems that none of my characters at this point rightly know what is happening.  Wait a minute.  I don't even know what is happening here.  ACK!!!

SOMEBODY SLAP ME!!!!!

Where is my main character?  I'm off to find him...hopefully.

Contract in hand
[info]wardenbelwar
Ok Ok, so yes, I have a publishing contract in my sweaty little palms right now from Otherworld Publications.  I have about a week to sign it, but at this point, I am really needing a second opinion on this company as they have only been in business for about a year and a half.  The royalties are bout 50%, but they do not pay an advance.  I am seriously thinking of signing this one, but would like to know other opinions.

Monsters, people, evil things, OH MY!
[info]wardenbelwar
Well, I am enjoying greatly writing my new book and am getting into some evil times with my troupe of adventurers.  Things are speeding up really fast now, but there is still a long way to go.  I am also reading The Pirate King by R.A. Salvatore and am about three quarters of the way through it and have found that one of my favorite characters might have said his last.

The meetings with my local writer's guild have been wonderful in helping me write my fantasy fiction novels.  I have been given so many ideas that I cannot count them all.  Stay tuned for more updates as I get closer to finding out if I have a publishing date set for 2011.

As my character often says in the early Drizzt books,

BIVRIP!

The writing continues

Ever wonder what it is like to finish a novel that is open ended?  I have thought of myself as a writer with endless ideas and my writing is a release for me.  When I started my second novel, I had an idea of where the story would lead me too, but creating the scenes is a whole new story.  I have brought back one of my characters in this sequal and yet, I find myself concentrating on him as the main character when in fact I have two main characters.  The character leading effect has not yet started and I find myself writing the characters history as he has lived it in his dreams and an unknown power as to which I have not the foggiest of a notion at this point where it has come from or how my character controls it.  Ahh, the life of a fantasy author.

Other World Publications are going to put me on the calendar for 2011 for my first novel, The Fate of Larik City, and I am excited to get my work in the marketplace.  The contract that I have seen a sample of is one where they pay you based on sales and charge nothing up front.  I am hoping that my writing is liked by many and am continuing to write the story that I started.  There is no end in sight and for that, I am grateful as I can still write the stories of my favorite characters.

My writing future may be easeier now
[info]wardenbelwar
Well, my supervisor had me step into his office today and said that he plans on moving me to a Monday through Friday work week if they fill one spot in our shift.  Yay!!!!  On another note, my next novel is seemingly very tough to write as I am having a delima of writing two main characters for my story.  My first main character should not even be alive in this story, but I felt compelled to bring him back through the actions of his brother, the second main character.  Although the brothers compliment each other, tying both of them into the story for their roles becomes much more difficult as the story progresses.  I currently have over seven thousand words written and an idea of where I am going with the story.  Time to start brain storming.

On to the future of publishing
[info]wardenbelwar
Well, recently I sent a query letter in to Other World Publications with my manuscript.  Received a reply back that I would be considered for their 2011 publication calendar.  Now comes the fun part of promoting my novel and thinking of ways to get the word out there.  I would like to point out that I have looked at a sample contract with Other World Publications and they pay as they sell.  This looks like a good stepping stone to standard publishing in order to get my name out in the marketplace.

NaNoWriMo 2009
[info]wardenbelwar
Well, it's almost halfway through the month of November and I have just crossed the 15,000 word mark.  I have a little ground to make up,  but plan on finishing my novel by the 30th.  It's been a fun month working with everyone from Lewis County, Washington online to inspire those to write and wage word wars.  I'm off to write another thousand words or two so wish me luck.

Finding and Agent in These Times is Tough
[info]wardenbelwar
Well, the title says it all.  Finding an agent in this era is a lot tougher than it used to be.  I've asked one of my favorite authors at a book signing, Robert A. Salvatore(R.A. Salvatore) if he would throw my name at my people and he told me that I would have less of chance if he did that than if I went straight to them.  I'm currently working with one agency right now and I have thrown two publishers at them that I want to try, so we'll see how that fairs.  My novel is a fantasy novel and I believe it would be well liked by a lot of those out there that read that genre.

Last year, I joined the Lewis County, Washington region of NaNoWriMo.  For those that have never heard of NaNoWriMo, it is National Novel Writing Month and takes place every November.  The goal is to start a novel on November first, and by November thirty-first, have written and verified fifty thousand words written.  This even encompasses the entire globe.  This year, I am working on a novel that is not related to or even in the same genre of the novel I wrote last year.  This year I am writing about the effects of being on medication while at work.  It's a comedy of a novel and I am enjoying writing it, although I am off to a slow start.  I intend to finish above the mark by November 31 though.

Since last year, I have attended numerous meetings with the Lewis County Writer's Guild, which we have named our group on a suggestion by me.  Our group has over twenty active members and continues to grow each month.  I would suggest other regions to do the same and see if you could set meetings each month to meet and discuss the writing process and critique one another.
